Codex Luminaria is an invitation-only, 21+ book lounge, which came about from a business owner who has always found their escape in books & stories, and found their passion in immersion and experiences. They wanted to create a space for other literature enthusiasts who, like them, wanted to escape from reality - even for a short time.
Codex Luminaria was created to be a safe & atmospheric social environment for individuals who want to get out more, but may tend more on the introverted side of the social spectrum. A space where people could come to meet and get to know other book lovers, or just have a delicious drink and treat while reading their favorite book in one of the unexpectedly comfortable lounge chairs. This literary speakeasy is a community-focused venue which hosts more intimate events, such as author meet & greets, book clubs, workshops, themed parties, and more.
Codex Luminaria is a passion project and unfortunately does not exist in reality... yet.
With the overall brand mood leaning heavily into prohibition era, but with a dark academia twist, I made sure to retain the vintage & semi-symmetrical silhouette for the primary logo. I kept some of the more elaborate decor of the art deco style while also simplifying and modernizing it a bit for the audiences of today.
The rose and thorns exist as a nod to fantasy, romance, enchantment, a bit of a sense of sin, and the allure of the forbidden.
